Preps Area Roundup -- Goretti eliminated from BCL tourney

BALTIMORE -- St. Maria Goretti's Nic Martin recorded 25 points and 10 rebounds, but his double-double wasn't enough as the Gaels fell behind 27-7 after the first quarter and had their season ended with a 74-49 loss to St. Frances (28-3) in the quarterfinals of the Baltimore Catholic League playoffs on Tuesday.

Stephon Berry had eight points and Aaron Wilkinson brought down seven boards for Goretti (8-27), which committed just 10 turnovers.

Armando Miller led Broadfording Christian with 27 points and 16 rebounds as the Lions beat Greater Grace in the Division II quarterfinals of the Maryland Christian State Tournament.

Steven Economos scored 10 points, Gabe Hirsch added 10 rebounds and five assists and both Jordan Whitt and Elijah Colliflower had nine rebounds for Broadfording (18-10).

BEDFORD, Pa. -- Lacey Beatty scored a team-high 20 points for Southern Fulton, which earned a berth in the PIAA Class A state tournament after defeating Shade in the consolation game of the District 5-A playoffs.

Brooke Whiteside added 18 points, five assists and three blocks for the Indians (22-3) while Chelsey Hollenshead and Keena Elbin had 13 rebounds each and Natasha Bard grabbed 10 boards.
