MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Beata M. Furnier, 100, of Martinsburg, died Monday, February 23, 2009, at the home of her daughters.

Born Feb. 20, 1909, in Pittsburgh, she was the daughter of the late Harry Winkel and Agnes Priester Winkel.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Furnier.

She was an organist for Our Savior Lutheran Church in Rego Park, Queens, N.Y., where she was a member for many years.

She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Martinsburg.

She is survived by two daughters, Jane A. Furnier and Darcie M. Furnier, both of Martinsburg; and one grandson, David J. Furnier.


She was preceded in death by one sister, Olga Bryde; and one brother, William Winkel.

Services will be Saturday at 4 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home. The Rev. James D. Riley Jr. will officiate.

The family will receive friends Saturday from 3 to 4 p.m. at the funeral home.
