CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Alberta E. Kauffman Wagaman Beeler, 87, a resident of The Shook Home, and formerly of 25 N. Potomac St., Waynesboro, Pa., died Monday, Feb. 23, 2009, at the nursing home.

Born Dec. 31, 1921, in Waynesboro, she was the daughter of the late Percy and Annie Verdier Kauffman.

Her first husband, Clyde L. Wagaman, died March 8, 1977. They were married March 15, 1941. Her second husband, Lloyd E. Beeler, died Jan. 2, 2002. They were married in June 1977.

She was a 1939 graduate of Washington Township High School.

Prior to retiring in 1986, she was a nurse's assistant at the former Leader Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Chambersburg.

She was a member of Quincy (Pa.) United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the Willing Workers Sunday School class, worked on several committees, served as treasurer for the Missionary Society of the church and worked with the Ladies Aide Society.


She is survived by two daughters, Lena R. Black of Frederick, Md., and Nancy W. Heishman of Mont Alto, Pa.; six grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Marie Tracey and Armatha Bumbaugh; and two brothers, Ervin Kauffman and Dennis Kauffman.

Services will be Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, Waynesboro. Pastor Todd Heishman will officiate. Burial will follow in Mount Zion Cemetery, near Quincy.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services Thursday at the funeral home.
