CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. - Edward J. Viands, 53, of Charles Town, died Sunday, Feb. 22, 2009, at his home under the care of Hospice of the Panhandle.

Born Aug. 28, 1955, in Martinsburg, W.Va., he was the son of Eleanor Jackson Viands of Summit Point, W.Va., and the late Lester T. Viands.

He was a 1973 graduate of Jefferson High School.

He worked for 29 years with AT&T as a telecommunication specialist.

He was a member of Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 948, Charles Town, and the union at his workplace.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Anita M. Gaynor Viands; one son, Edward B. Viands of Ranson, W.Va.; one brother, Glen Viands of Summit Point; and one grandchild, Alexis Viands.

Memorial services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Melvin T. Strider Colonial Funeral Home, Charles Town. Eulogy will be provided by the family. Burial will be in Pleasant View Memory Gardens, Martinsburg.

Visitation will be Saturday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
