Foundation has 17 scholarships available

The Community Foundation of Washington County MD Inc. has announced that 17 scholarships are available for the 2009-10 academic year through funds at the foundation. Each of the scholarship funds has unique criteria for applicants.

Five county high schools have awards available to graduating seniors meeting the donors' criteria for selection:

o Boonsboro High School - BHS Class of 1970 Scholarship; Joseph M. Ellis Memorial Scholarship

o North Hagerstown High School - Christine Ecker Memorial Scholarship

o Smithsburg High School - Young Scholars Award

o South Hagerstown High School - Sherrill Koontz Memorial Scholarship

o Williamsport High School - Officer Christopher Nicholson Memorial Scholarship

Washington County 4-H Clubs have two scholarships available through funds of the foundation - 4-H Market Livestock Scholarship Fund and 4-H Dairy Scholarship Fund


Additionally, several scholarship funds benefiting students enrolled at University Systems of Maryland at Hagerstown are available:

USMH Scholarship (five); USMH CITI Scholarship; USMH City of Hagerstown Scholarship; USMH STEM Scholarship; and USMH Washington County Scholarship
