MIDDLETOWN. Md. -- Floyd L. Biser, 89, of Middletown, died Tuesday, Feb. 17, 2009, at Frederick (Md.) Memorial Hospital.

Born Jan. 2, 1920, in Broad Run, Md., he was the son of the late Henry Harry L. and Temma Grace Wolfe Biser.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Helen V. Easterday Biser, who died in 1967.

He retired from the Frederick County Roads Department as a supervisor after 28 years of service.

He was a 1937 graduate of Middletown High School.

He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

He is survived by his wife, Evelyn Miller Biser, whom he married Sept. 2, 1972; two children, Tim Biser of Smithsburg and Jerry Poffinberger of Sanford, Fla.; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and one niece.


He was preceded in death by three sisters, Velma Poole, Mary Marcum and Gladys Seamen; and one brother, Roy Biser.

Services will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at Donald B. Thompson Funeral Home, Middletown. The Rev. Kathy Vitalis Hoffman and Vicar Chris Frigm will officiate. Burial will be in Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Middletown. Military honors will be accorded at graveside by AMVETS Post 10 of Hagerstown along with the Marine Corps League of Hagerstown.

The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
