WINCHESTER, Va. - Mazie Leona Orndorff, 78, of Winchester, died Monday, Feb. 16, 2009, at her home.

Born April 14, 1930, in Martinsburg, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late William and Elsie Viola Hovermale.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Andres Hunter Orndorff, in 1968.

She attended Morgan County, W.Va., schools.

She was a seasonal worker for 34 years in the apple industry.

She was a member of Braddock Street United Methodist Church and attended Highland United Methodist Church.

She is survived by two daughters, Judith K. Orndorff and Lisa O. Connor, both of Winchester; one son, William H. Orndorff of Winchester; two sisters, Janie Sirbaugh of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., and Connie French of Hancock; two brothers, Roy Hovermale and Carl Hovermale, both of Berkeley Springs; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; nieces; and nephews.


She was preceded in death by one sister, Mamie Stotler; and one brother, Melvin B. Hovermale.

Services will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Highland United Methodist Church, Berkeley Springs. Pastor Bob McDonald-Walker will officiate. Burial will be in Highland Church Cemetery, Berkeley Springs.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 6 to 9 p.m. at Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home, Berkeley Springs, which will open at noon.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the family in care of Judith Orndorff, 225-16 Indian Hollow Road, Winchester, VA 22603.
