Man charged in robbery at Chambersburg Sheetz



CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - A Chambersburg man was charged with robbery following a Monday night holdup of the Sheetz store at 875 Norland Ave., according to the Chambersburg Police Department.

Police said a man wearing a ski mask and armed with a handgun entered the store at 11:54 p.m. and demanded money from the cashier. Robert Andy Scatena, 40, of 1140 Edgar Ave. was taken into custody for the robbery after a traffic stop, police said.

Man allegedly fire gun while talking with wife



MERCERSBURG, Pa. -- Pennsylvania State Police charged a man with disorderly conduct for discharging a firearm while talking on the telephone with his wife on Valentine's Day.

Police said Jeremy L. Woodring, 23, of 10775 Knob Road, was talking on the phone at 7:13 p.m. Saturday when he fired a .22-caliber pistol, implicating that he was committing suicide.

Furnaces stolen from Pa. rental property



ORRSTOWN, Pa. -- Oil and gas furnaces were stolen from a vacant rental property in Lurgan Township during the past six months, Pennsylvania State Police said.

The furnaces were in a property on the 14000 block of Lurgan Road, police said, and were taken between Aug. 1, 2008, and Monday.
