After returning home from his service in the Navy, he worked for Chestnut Farms Dairy and Sealtest Dairy in Frederick, and retired from Shenandoah's Pride Dairy in Springfield, Va.
Jim is survived by his wife of 62 years, Patricia Lorraine Kefauver Getridge; one daughter, Cheryl Pryor and husband, Gary, of Middletown, Md.; one son, James Franklin Getridge of Boonsboro; three sisters, Doris Gatrell, Pearl Marshall and husband, Richard, and Jeanette "Peachie" Knight and husband, Lonzo, all of Sharpsburg; and two brothers, Garnet Getridge and wife, Ollie, of Brunson, S.C., and Gary Getridge and wife, Linda, of Boonsboro. He is also survived by one sister-in-law, Shirley Getridge of Clear Spring, Md.; one half sister, Lena Willoughby and husband, William, of LaVerne, Calif.; two granddaughters, Erin Gollogly and husband, Jonathan, and Stephanie Harvey, all of Boonsboro; five great-grandchildren, Stacia Gollogly, Phoenix Harvey, Noah Gollogly, Sean Gollogly and Jonah Harvey, all of Boonsboro; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by three sisters, Meta Getridge, Virginia Getridge and Lillian Lapole and husband, William; one brother, George Getridge; one brother-in-law, Floyd Gatrell; and two half brothers, Marion "Pete" Getridge Jr. and Harold Getridge.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home in Boonsboro. The Rev. Robert G. Brennan Jr. will officiate. Burial will be in Boonsboro Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
