JEFFERSON, Md. -- Clark Joseph Hartman, 64, of Jefferson, died Saturday, Feb. 14, 2009, at University of Maryland Medical Center in Baltimore after a short battle with cancer. 

Born Aug. 28, 1944, in Frederick, Md., he was the son of Adelaide L. Hartman of Frederick.

He was a 1963 graduate of Frederick High School and had some college education.

He was a government employee and retired from National Institutes of Health.  

He served in the U.S. Army. 

He was a member of Victory Baptist Church in Boonsboro, served as an usher, Sunday school assistant and trustee, and helped his son in the youth ministry.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife of 34 years, C. Darlene Schroyer Hartman; three sons, Jason C. Hartman of Fairplay, Aaron J. Hartman of Jefferson and Steve Fox of Frederick; one stepdaughter, Theresa Guyer of Jefferson; four stepgrandchildren; one granddaughter; one stepgreat- granddaughter; and two aunts.


Services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Victory Baptist Church, Boonsboro. Pastor Ed Wade and Youth Pastor Aaron Hartman will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Carmel Cemetery, Frederick.    

Visitation will be Thursday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. at Donald B. Thompson Funeral Home, Middletown, Md. 

Memorial contributions may be made to Clark J. Hartman Memorial Fund through the Jefferson branch of Middletown Valley Bank, Middletown, Md.
