Patriotic assembly at St. Mary School

February 16, 2009

St. Mary Catholic School students and faculty participated in a patriotic assembly Jan. 16.

The assembly was presided over by Anthony Jurik, Woodmen of the World, and Mary Jo Ashburn, founder of Washington County Friends of Education Exchange Club.

One of the eighth-grade students, Isabelle Maina, sang a rendition of "The Star-Spangled Banner" and the students saluted the flag as they recited the Pledge of Allegiance.

Jurik presented each student with his or her own hand-held American flag and a copy of the American Patriots Handbook.

Saint Mary Catholic School students are taught and reminded daily to honor God and the United States of America.
