Choir event set for Sunday

First Christian Church is holding a choir event Sunday at 5 p.m.

The Chancel Choir, along with other adult choirs in the area, will sing songs of praise for the coming season. Each choir will share two anthems and then combine the choirs for the finale. The church is at 1345 Potomac Ave. in Hagerstown.

St. Maria Goretti High School's National Honor Society will sponsor a bowlathon Friday to benefit St. Jude's.

The Parent/Teacher Organization meeting will be Tuesday, Feb 24, at 6:30 p.m. in the cafeteria.

The 13th annual bonanza will be Saturday, March 14, at 6 p.m. in the Gael Center. Tickets cost $40 in advance and $45 at the door. Return your ticket stub and payment by Feb. 27. The ticket includes dinner, dessert, tip jars, raffles, silent auction and themed baskets.

Club lacrosse league forming

A girls and boys high school club lacrosse team is forming for the spring season. The teams are open to student in grades nine to 12. The teams will compete in a league based in Frederick, Md., that will comprise Frederick County and Washington County high school club teams.

St. Mary School

On Monday, March 16, St. Mary Catholic School will hold an open house from 4 to 6 p.m. for prospective students in grades kindergarten through seven.

TOPS 446

TOPS (Take off Pounds Sensibly) Chapter 446 members were given homework at their last meeting. The members were to take their TOPS tools and learn how to use them, if they are not using them now.

Feb. 9 was awards day for January for TOPS Chapter 77. The chapter had 80 members weigh in and had a loss for the month.

Forty-one members had perfect attendance. Joanne Little, Bea Myers, Bonnie Henry and Angie Youngblood each had perfect attendance and no gains. The division winners were Youngblood for division 1 with a 7 3/4-pound loss and Cleo Burger for division 2 with a 7 1/2-pound loss. Dianne Keely and Maida Law were awarded for being one-quarter way to their goals.

Youngblood received her charm for her 40-pound loss and another six-consecutive-week loss charm. This is her 20th week with having a loss. Little received a charm for a 10-pound loss.

The Shinning Stars for January were Patsy Martin and Emma Jean Robertson. The "Get-R-Done" winner was Joanne Gilbert with a 2 3/4-pound loss this week.

This week, Eileen Renwick will lead the program on soups.
