February 16, 2009

FREDERICK, Md. -- An Ellicott City, Md., woman was killed Sunday evening when she apparently walked into a travel lane of Interstate 70 and was struck by two vehicles, according to Maryland State Police.

At about 7:25 p.m., witnesses saw Kathleen Vivian Quinn-Moloney, 49, walk onto the highway on eastbound I-70 near Mt. Phillip Road, where she was struck by a 2006 Dodge Durango with Pennsylvania license tags and a 2004 Toyota Sienna with Maryland tags, police said in a news release.

Quinn-Moloney's vehicle, a 2004 Sienna, was parked on the right shoulder and had no apparent mechanical difficulties, police said.

State Police closed eastbound I-70 for about two hours following the accident, which remains under investigation.

Quinn-Moloney was married and had two children, police said. She was believed to have been traveling alone.
