Church leaders invited to Thursday get-together

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - The United Churches of the Chambersburg Area will hold an open house on Thursday from 4:30 to 6 p.m. at The Salvation Army, 159 Lincoln Way West, Chambersburg.

All pastors and church leaders from congregations in the greater Chambersburg area are invited to attend.

Hunters Helping Kids benefit banquet set

ORRTANNA, Pa. - The Buchanan Valley Volunteer Fire Co. will host its first Pennsylvania chapter of Hunter's Helping Kids banquet and live auction on Saturday at the fire station at 1180 Buchanan Valley Road.


Doors open at 4 p.m. and dinner starts at 6 p.m., according to a news release.

Tickets cost $20 per person, $10 for ages 6 to 11 and are free for those 5 and younger.

In addition to the meal, other activities include raffles, a live auction and autograph signing with Team Fitzgerald.

Proceeds benefit Hunters Helping Kids, which is dedicated to taking kids hunting and fishing while introducing them to the world of outdoor conservation. For tickets or more information, call Crystal Arter at 717-677-9653 or Mike Strickhouser at 717-677-6737.

Faculty art exhibit on display Thursday

MONT ALTO, Pa. - The Penn State Mont Alto Museum of Temporary Art will host an art reception highlighting the artwork of Penn State Mont Alto faculty and staff on Thursday from 2 to 4 p.m. on the first floor of the General Studies Building.

The reception is free and open to the public.

The exhibit includes a variety of mediums, including wood carvings, oil and acrylic paintings, and photography.
