QUINCY, Pa. - Janice Marie Houk Nolan, 79, of Quincy Village and formerly of Greencastle, Pa., died Friday, Feb. 13, 2009, at the nursing home.

Born Jan. 30, 1930, in Elwood City, Pa., she was the daughter of the late James and Dorothy Forbush Houk.

She was a 1948 graduate of Elwood City High School.

She was employed as a bookkeeper and teller by Citizens National Bank in State Line, Pa. and Greencastle. She retired in 1995.

She attended Paramount Baptist Church in Hagerstown.

She was a member of the national AARP.

She is survived by two daughters, Noreen M. Vance of Hagerstown and Diana L. Boone of Greencastle; two sons, John R. "Rick" Nolan Jr. of Marion, Pa. and Donald A. Nolan of Greencastle; three sisters, Kathryn Cable, Betty Crawford and Velma Noel, all of Elwood City; three brothers, Clarence Houk of Ohio, James Houk of Wampum, Pa. and Leroy Houk of Elwood City, Pa.; nine grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; nieces; and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her companion, Gene Jewell; her ex-husband, John R. Nolan Sr.; and one sister, Doris Crawford.

Services will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Miller-Bowersox Funeral Home in Greencastle. The Rev. Lawrence L. Rickard will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park, Hagerstown.

It was her request to have no public viewing; however, the family will receive friends Tuesday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the funeral home.
