GREENCASTLE, Pa. - Ronald D. "Harts" Hartman, 74, of 9726 Browns Mill Road, died Wednesday, Feb. 11, 2009, at Hershey (Pa.) Medical Center.

Born June 18, 1934, in Greencastle, he was the son of the late Gideon and Florence Shatzer Hartman.

He was a 1952 graduate of Greencastle-Antrim High School.

He was employed as a missile overhauler by Letterkenny Army Depot in Chambersburg for 30 years before retiring in 1990.

He served in the U.S. Army.

He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Greencastle.

He was a member of Harry D. Ziegler VFW Post 6319 and Frank L. Carbaugh American Legion Post 373, both of Greencastle.

He is survived by his wife, Betty M. Myers Hartman, whom he married June 19, 1955; one daughter, Tammy Ward of Greencastle; one son, Jeff Hartman of Greencastle; five sisters, Norma J. Pfingsten of Scottsdale, Ariz., Shirl Talhelm of Myrtle Beach, S.C., Linda Bianchi of Philadelphia, Diane Beron of Lafayette, La., and June Seuss of Chambersburg; one brother, Richard Hartman of Chambersburg; four grandchildren; one great-grandson; and nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be Monday at 11 a.m. at First United Methodist Church, Greencastle. The Rev. Stacy A. Crawford will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to First United Methodist Church, Building Fund, 45 N. Washington St., Greencastle, PA 17225 or American Cancer Society, 384 Floral Ave., Chambersburg, PA 17201.
