QUINCY, Pa. - Earl Joseph Gooding, 91, of Quincy Village, died Thursday, Feb. 12, 2009, at his home.

Born Nov. 5, 1917, in Baltimore, he was the son of the late Joseph and Marguerite Fisher Gooding.

He was preceded in death by his wife, M. Lillian Gooding, in 1981.

He was preceded in death by his companion of 20 years, Minerva Miller.

He retired from Danzer Metal Works as vice president of Airline Products.

He was a member of American Builders and Contractors, worshipful master of Friendship Lodge 84 AF&AM and on Grand Line, Scoutmaster with Troops 4 and 36, did watercolors with Clyde Roberts at the Art Club in City Park and was a square dance caller.

He is survived by three daughters, Joyce M. Wolfe and D. Marianne Gooding, both of Hagerstown, and Sally J. Gilbert of Chambersburg, Pa.; two sons, John Charles Gooding of Enfield, Conn., and Dr. Carl W. Gooding of Anniston, Ala.; 11 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.


He was preceded in death by three sisters, Dorothy M. Gooding, Pearl Smith and Virginia C. Lee; and one brother, Carl C. Gooding.

Services will be Saturday at 2:30 p.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd. in Hagerstown. The Rev. Gregory P. Shook will officiate.

Entombment will be at the convenience of the family in Greenlawn Memorial Park, Williamsport.

The family will receive friends Saturday from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
