February 12, 2009

HAGERSTOWN -- The Washington County Courthouse on West Washington Street in Hagerstown was evacuated Thursday morning after clerks received a bomb threat, Washington County Sheriff Douglas W. Mullendore said.

The courthouse was closed until 10:30 a.m., Mullendore said.

Courthouse clerks received a phone call at about 9:10 a.m. saying that a bomb would go off within an hour, Mullendore said.

The Sheriff's Department brought in a bomb dog and searched all floors, Mullendore said.

A spokesperson at the Sheriff's Department said Thursday night that nothing was found during the search.
