MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Hester Marcella Roach, 78, formerly of Falling Waters, and most recently of Heartland Nursing Home, died Tuesday, Feb. 10, 2009, at the nursing home.

Born April 16, 1930, in Brunswick, Md., she was the daughter of the late Edgar Brown and Naomi Ruth Brantner Brown.

Her husband of 57 years, Claude "Mike" T. Roach, preceded her in death.

She was a 1948 graduate of Martinsburg High School.

She retired from JCPenney with 25 years of service.

She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church.

She is survived by two daughters, Roxanne Donaldson of Richmond, Va., and Karen Niedermeier of Chesapeake, Va.; one son, Michael Roach of Martinsburg; one sister, Camille O'Rourke of Martinsburg; one brother, Dudley Brown of Bunker Hill, W.Va.; five grandchildren; nieces; and nephews.


Services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church. The Rev. James D. Riley Jr. will officiate. Burial will be in Rosedale Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at Brown Funeral Home in Martinsburg on Friday from 7 to 9 p.m.
