Gilles R. Morin, M.D., 82

Gilles R. Morin, M.D., beloved husband, father, grandfather, died Feb. 9 at age 82. Born in Lewiston, Maine, Dec. 23, 1926, to Jeannette Jobidon and R.J. Morin, M.D. He graduated from Bates College, Laval University, Menninger Institute, and was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.

He practiced psychiatry for 35 years, was the original medical director of Brook Lane Psychiatric Center in Hagerstown, Md., president of Calcasieu Parish Medical Society, chief of staff at St. Patrick's Hospital, director of the Mental Health Treatment Center and director of Charter Hospital Lake Charles.

He loved family, church, reading, golf, LSU sports and gin rummy with Champions Golf Club pals. He enjoyed his many bridge and gym friends. He made friends everywhere, and will be greatly missed.

He is survived by wife, Jean; children, Anne Morin and Terri Huguenin of Hagerstown, Bob Morin, M.D. of Boca Raton, Fla., Kathy Morin of Houston, Michael Morin, M.D. of Metairie, La., Tom Morin of Greenbrae, Calif., Greg Morin of Palatine, Ill., Jeannette Bjoernsen of San Carlos, Calif., Gilles Morin of Baton Rouge, La., and spouses; 10 beloved grandchildren; brother, Norman Morin, M.D. of Lake Charles, La.; and many nieces and nephews.

His life will be celebrated with a Memorial Mass at Prince of Peace Catholic Community, 19222 State Hwy. 249, Houston, TX 77070, at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Feb. 13.
