He restored horse-drawn carriages and sleighs, enjoyed building furniture and all types of woodworking. He raised and enjoyed many various animals over the years.
Survivors include his wife of more than 50 years, Judy L. Shank Gaylor; son, Dwayne L. Gaylor at home; daughter, Denise R. Eshleman and her husband, Dan, of Travelers Rest, S.C.; son, Douglas D. Gaylor and his wife, Lori, of Hagerstown; son, Dale M. Gaylor and his wife, Carlene, of Hagerstown; son, David R. Gaylor and his wife, Grace, of Hagerstown; son, Daniel M. Gaylor and his wife, Jill, of Clear Spring, Md.; brother, Richard Gaylor and his wife, Jeannine, of Boonsboro, Md.; grandchildren, Heather Speer and her husband, Jonathan, Sarah Eshleman, Elisabeth Eshleman, Jessica Gaylor, Unah Eshleman, Nicole Gaylor, Hannah Gaylor, Brooke Gaylor, Josiah Eshleman, Nate Gaylor, Amy Gaylor, Clint Gaylor, Chloe Gaylor, Isaac Gaylor and Brayden Gaylor; great-grandchild, Asa Paul Speer; father-in-law, Eugene "Giggs" Shank; nieces; and nephews.
Fred was born Aug. 26, 1940, in Williamsport to Catherine Marie Delawter Gaylor of Williamsport and the late Albert Melvin Gaylor.
The family will receive friends at Osborne Funeral Home, 425 S. Conococheague St., Williamsport on Friday, Feb. 13, 2009, from 6 to 9 p.m. The funeral home will be open after 9 a.m. on Friday for the convenience of family and friends.
Funeral services will be held at Emmanuel Baptist Temple, 16221 National Pike, Hagerstown on Saturday, Feb. 14, 2009, at 11 a.m. with Pastor Douglas Farrow officiating. Interment will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park, Hagerstown.
