LEETOWN, W.Va. - Bobby D. Cook, 67, of Leetown, died Monday, Feb. 9, 2009, at Winchester (Va.) Medical Center.

Born Sept. 21, 1941, in Elkridge, Md., he was the son of the late Desmond Cook and Argel Davis Cook.

He was a 1959 graduate of Howard County High School.

He served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. He retired from the Navy after 23 years of service. He also retired from James Rumsey Technical Institute after 18 years as an electronics instructor.

He was a member of Leetown Southern Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon and treasurer.

He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Carol Metzger Cook; and one daughter, Mary J. Cook of Charleston, W.Va.


He was preceded in death by one brother, Michael Cook.

Services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Melvin T. Strider Colonial Funeral Home, Charles Town, W.Va. Pastor Edward Furr will officiate. Burial will be in Meadowridge Memorial Park, Elkridge.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Friday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
