Man accused of sex abuse of strip club employees



MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - A Winchester, Va., man was arraigned this week on allegations he sexually abused one of the dancers and a bartender at a strip club he owned, then offered the dancer $2,700 not to pursue criminal charges, according to magistrate court records.

Donald Lee Bayliss, 71, of Winchester, Va., was arraigned Tuesday on two felony counts of first-degree sexual abuse and a misdemeanor count of intimidation of a witness, records show.

Berkeley County Magistrate Sandra L. Miller set bond for Bayliss at $25,000, according to court records.

Both victims told police Bayliss touched them inappropriately at Club Eden at 18 Royal Crest Drive and forced sexual contact with them in August 2008 while they were employed there, according to a complaint filed by Berkeley County Sheriff's Deputy M.T. Longerbeam.

Man held on malicious wounding charge

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - A 34-year-old Martinsburg man accused of using a taser against his girlfriend in an apparent altercation at their home Monday was still in Eastern Regional Jail on Wednesday evening, jail records show.

Allen Wiggins of 219 S. Raleigh St. was arraigned Wednesday on one count of malicious wounding by Berkeley County Magistrate JoAnn Overington, who set a $25,000 cash-only bond.

The victim told police the defendant threatened to kill her, tased her on the face, neck, side and legs, and punched her in the face, according to a complaint filed by Martinsburg Police Department Patrolman Adam Albaugh.

The victim said Wiggins tried to keep her from screaming by knotting a pillow case and putting it in her mouth, according to the complaint.

The victim was able to escape, ran to a window and yelled for help, according to Albaugh's complaint.

Two hurt in crash during police pursuit in Pa.



WAYNESBORO, Pa. -- Two girls suffered minor injuries when a truck ran off the road and into a cornfield during a police pursuit Saturday, Washington Township, Pa., police said in a news release.

An officer was southbound on Pa. 316 south when a truck passed at a high rate of speed, police said. The officer turned on his emergency lights and tried to stop the truck, but it ran into the cornfield around 3:30 a.m., police said.

Police said two female passengers were taken to Waynesboro Hospital for minor injuries. The driver ran away.

Township police joined with Waynesboro police and Maryland State Police in searching for the driver, who was not found.

52-inch TV reported stolen from Pa. home



CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - A 52-inch, flat-panel television was stolen Feb. 3 from a house at 76 Grandview Crossings in Hamilton Township, Pennsylvania State Police said in a news release.

It is not clear how the house was entered when the Toshiba TV was taken, police said.

Berkeley school bus involved in three-vehicle accident



MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - A Berkeley County school bus on Tuesday received minimal damage in a three-vehicle collision in the 1100 block of Shepherdstown Road near Jenny Wren Drive west of Martinsburg, according to Berkeley County Sheriff Kenneth M. Lemaster Jr.

A student riding the bus was not injured when a red truck rear-ended a van, which then collided with the bus, Lemaster said.

The accident was reported at 3:52 p.m., a Berkeley County Central Dispatch supervisor said.
