Conflict resolution

The Washington County Community Mediation Center is offering its services free to the community.

Valerie Harper of the center reminds all that post-holiday blues can create conflict. Some symptoms are lack of interest in activities, difficulty sleeping, changes in appetite, tiredness and difficulty concentrating. Possible triggers for the condition include overindulgence, weight gain, financial concerns as a result of overspending and possible relationship conflicts following the stressors of the season.

The center recognizes that the stressors of the holidays and the weeks following can result in an increase in relationship conflicts. The good news, they say, is there are solutions to the interpersonal disputes in your life. WCCMC mediators promote, practice and teach mediation, a nonadversarial conflict management approach that helps to rebuild relationships in a safe and secure environment, thereby promoting a peaceful community.
