Contract awarded to remove pine trees in Clear Spring

CLEAR SPRING -- The Clear Spring Town Council on Monday awarded a contract to LeRoy E. Myers Inc. to remove 38 pine trees that are situated near the wastewater treatment plant.

Mayor Paul D. Hose Jr. said the pine trees need to be uprooted because their needles fall off and clog equipment at the plant.

The town will pay $3,750 to have the work done.

Other bids were submitted by Carbaugh Tree Service LLC for $3,960 and by M & N Durboraw & Sons Excavating Inc. for $3,600.

The council said it decided to hire Myers because the company has an excellent performance history with the town.
