CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Frances A. Sipes, 80, of Chambersburg, died Sunday, Feb. 8, 2009, at her home.

Born Aug. 8, 1928, in St. Thomas Township, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Roy and Blanche Auman.

She graduated from Hagerstown Business College with a degree in business.

She worked as a secretary at Letterkenny Army Depot for five years.

She taught Sunday school at Ebenezer (Guitner's) United Brethren Church, where she was a member and assisted with the Bible Released Time Program.

She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Ralph G. Sipes; four sons, Gary G. Sipes and Bryan L. Sipes, both of Chambersburg, Duane E. Sipes of Greencastle, Pa., and Craig A. Sipes of DeLand, Fla.; one sister, Helen Steinour of Chambersburg; and 12 grandchildren.


She was preceded in death by one daughter, Sandra K. Sipes.

Services will be Thursday at 10 a.m. at Ebenezer United Brethren Church, Greencastle. The Revs. Richard Mose and Garry Culler will officiate. Burial will follow in St. Thomas Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, Chambersburg, and one hour prior to the service Thursday at the church.
