Preps Area Roundup -- Barr bounces back, helps Saints top Hoppers

BOYS BASKETBALL

SAINT JAMES -- All five St. James starters scored in double figures and Jordan Barr made a quick recovery from an injury to shut down one of Georgetown Day's top scorers in the fourth quarter as the Saints beat the Hoppers 70-66 in a Mid Atlantic Conference game at Alumni Hall on Saturday.

Barr took an elbow to the mouth and had his two front teeth pushed back. St. James coach Mike Brooks said it wasn't long before Barr was back on the floor, however.

"The toughness he showed was amazing. As soon as the doc said he could go back in, he was walking to the scorer's table," Brooks said. "He came back in and hit a huge basket and held (Jeremy) Arnstein without a point in the fourth."

Mike Russ led the Saints (11-9, 3-5) with 18 points and seven rebounds. Stephan Dunbar finished with 16 points, Ben Louderback had 12 and Barr and Spencer Draper each had 11.

Draper also had 11 assists as all but one of the Saints' 23 field goals came off an assist.

Max Keenan led Georgetown Day with 22 points and Ben Blount added 14. Arnstein finished with eight points.
