RANSON, W.Va. - Pauline S. Alt, 99, of Ranson, died Thursday, Feb. 5, 2009, at Shenandoah Health Village Center in Charles Town, W.Va.

Born July 16, 1909, in Grant County, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late George W. Stump and Mary Judy Stump.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George Alt, in 1985.

She retired from the Mineral County and Jefferson County (W.Va.) school systems as a cafeteria worker.

She was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church in Charles Town.

She was a member of VFW Memorial Post 3522 Auxiliary of Charles Town and AARP.

She is survived by four daughters, Norma A. Tuthill of Sun City Center, Fla., Jean A. Henning of Ocean Pines, Md., Judy A. Thomas of Catonsville, Md., and Kathleen A. Mills of Kearneysville, W.Va.; two sisters, Vernice Stansbury of Baltimore and Rhoda Riggleman of Burlington, W.Va.; three brothers, Rudolph Stump and Jesse Stump, both of Baltimore, and Ralph Stump of Mount Clare, W.Va.; and two grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Leola Konitzer and Nida Judy; and four brothers, Lavurl Stump, Oliver Stump, Clement Stump and Arlie Stump.

Services will be Monday at noon at Melvin T. Strider Colonial Funeral Home, Charles Town. The Rev. Constantine L. Havir will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant View Memory Gardens, Martinsburg, W.Va.

The family will receive friends Monday from 10 a.m. to noon at the funeral home.
