Gary Michael "Mike" Mower, 67, of Hagerstown, Md., passed away Wednesday, Feb. 4, 2009, at Winchester Medical Center in Winchester, Va.

Born Wednesday, Dec. 17, 1941, in Cumberland, Md., he was the son of the late Earl Franklin Mower and Alma Ruth Kesler Mower.

He was a graduate of the University of Maryland with a bachelor of science degree and later earned his master of business administration degree at Frostburg State University.

He was a retired civil engineer with the state of West Virginia, and later was employed by RK&K Engineering in Keyser, W.Va.

He also a veteran of the Naval Reserves, serving with the Seabees.

He was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Cumberland Outdoor Club and Masonic Lodge, and a life member of the National Rifle Association.

He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Bonnie L. Mower; two daughters, Gina M. Mower of Kirkland, Wash., and Diane R. Mower of Seattle, Wash.; two sons, Bret M. Mower of Greencastle, Pa., and Major Scott A. Mower of Fort Hood, Texas; one sister, Nancy L. Hess of Fulton, Md.; one brother, Darrell W. Mower of Cumberland; and five grandchildren, Kevin, Savanah, Cole, Weston and Lexus.

Services will be Monday, Feb. 9, 2009, at 1 p.m. at Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, 1331 Eastern Blvd. North, Hagerstown, with the Rev. Quentin Fleming officiating.

Interment will be in Rest Haven Cemetery, Hagerstown.

The family will receive friends Sunday, Feb. 8, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
