GREAT CACAPON, W.Va. - Edward Frank Leisner Sr., 78, of Great Cacapon, died Thursday, Feb. 5, 2009, at his home.

Born Sept. 3, 1930, in Baltimore, he was the son of the late August and Mildred Myers Leisner.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Cecelia Goss Leisner, in 1994.

He attended public schools in Baltimore.

He had worked as a farmer in Finksburg, Md.

He was a Methodist.

He cared for the roads in the Valley High Timber Farms subdivision.

He is survived by five daughters, Ruth M. Young of Edgewood, Md., Betty J. Summers of Westminster, Md., Kathleen Pratt of Hampstead, Md., and Deborah A. Leisner and Shirley M. Deluca, both of Finksburg; one son, Edward F. Leisner Jr. of Westminster; one sister, Doris Busick of Baltimore; 20 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.


He was preceded in death by one daughter, Donna L. Leisner; two brothers, Robert Leisner and August Leisner Jr.; and one grandson.

There will be a gathering of family and friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at St. Thomas' Episcopal Church, Hancock.

A memorial service will be held in the spring.

Arrangements are by Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home, Berkeley Springs, W.Va.
