February 06, 2009

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - A Baltimore man was in Eastern Regional Jail Friday night on a felony count of crack cocaine distribution after police said he sold the drug near the Veterans Affairs Medical Center, according to jail and court records.

Martez Micuel Countess, 30, was arraigned Friday by Magistrate JoAnn Overington, who set a $25,000 cash-only bond for the defendant, according to court records.

The drug deal, which was orchestrated by the Eastern Panhandle Drug and Violent Crime Task Force, happened Thursday in the parking lot of the 7-Eleven just outside the entrance to the medical center, according to a complaint filed by West Virginia State Police Sgt. K.E. Miller.
