Woman charged in arson threat

February 04, 2009

A Smithsburg woman has been charged in connection with an arson threat made Tuesday, a deputy state fire marshal said.

Antoinette Constantino, 43, of East Water Street, was taken into custody at her home this morning after a brief standoff with the officers who served the warrant, the fire marshal said in a news release.

She had made a threat against a Hancock man and his Exline Road home Tuesday afternoon, the fire marshal alleged.

Deputy State Fire Marshal Ed Ernst and Maryland State Police served the warrant at about 2 a.m. Wednesday, said Jason Mowbray, deputy chief state fire marshal.

Constantino had called the man, an acquaintance of hers, more than 25 times Tuesday, and had threatened to burn his house down, Mowbray said.
