FREDERICK, Md. - Preston H. Lawson, 89, of Frederick, died Monday, Feb. 2, 2009, at his home.

Born Jan. 26, 1920, in Ijamsville, Md., he was the son of the late Dorsey and Nellie Watkins Lawson.

He worked as an agent for Peoples Life Insurance Co. until his retirement in 1985. He received many adwards for his outstanding service.

He was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church in Frederick.

He was a member of the Masonic Lodge of Frederick and the Supreme Lodge of the Masons in Washington, D.C. He was a former member of the Frederick Moose Lodge.

He is survived by his wife of 68 1/2 years, Annabelle Coleman Lawson; one daughter, Winifred R. Droppleman of Falling Waters, W.Va.; two brothers, Carty Lawson of Leesburg, Va., and Teddy Lawson of Frederick; five grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; and nieces and nephews.


He was preceded in death by two sisters, Fairy Day and Elva Giles.

Services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, Frederick. The Rev. Anjel Scarborough will officiate. Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Frederick.

Friends may call Thursday from 3 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home, with the family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m. A Masonic service will begin at 7:30 p.m.
