Dance party set for Friday
Jim Powers will hold his dance party Friday at the Maugansville Ruritan Building on Maugans Avenue from 7 to 10 p.m. Admission costs $4.

AARP to meet Tuesday at Girls Inc.
AARP Chapter 623 will meet in the senior center at Girls Inc., 626 Washington Ave., Hagerstown, Tuesday at 1 p.m. Kathy Fisher, manager, will talk about the services the center offers. If public schools are closed or delayed due to inclement weather, the meeting will be canceled. Lunch, which costs $3, will be served at 11:30 a.m. Anyone wishing to eat is asked to call 301-671-2368 by Friday to make a reservation.
Cascade Elementary School
The PTA meeting is Thursday. The group will discuss the auction and carnation sales.
Smithsburg Middle School
The school has reached the halfway point and the third marking period is over. Maryland State Assessment Test dates will be March 17 and 18 for reading, and March 24 and 25 for math. Families are urged not to take vacations or make appointments on those dates.
Little Sluggers registration
Smithsburg Little Sluggers, which is sanctioned through Cal Ripken Baseball, will hold registration for the upcoming season. Ages 4 to 18 are eligible to play in the league.
Registration will be Friday, Feb. 13, from 7 to 9 p.m.; Saturday, Feb. 14, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.; Friday, Feb. 20, from 7 to 9 p.m.; and Saturday, Feb. 21, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. All registrations will be held at the Smithsburg Fire Hall. All current and new players must register.
For registration, bring birth certificate and $35 for one child, $65 for more than one child ages 4 to 12, and $130 per child for ages 13 to 18.

Barbershop chorus to sing valentines
The Mason-Dixon Barbershop Chorus will offer its singing valentines Friday, Feb. 13, and Saturday, Feb. 14.
For $40, an elegantly- dressed quartet will serenade your loved one with two love songs, present a card from the sender and a small memento.

Hagerstown Community College's Technical Innovation Center is a viewing site for the next live broadcast presented by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) Enterprise Forum in partnership with Southeastern Software Association and the Metro Atlanta Chamber Technology Marketing Council.
The broadcast titled, "A Walk in the Clouds: Is Cloud Computing the Future of Enterprise Systems?" will be Thursday, Feb. 12, from 7 to 8:30 p.m., in TIC conference room 208.
The broadcast will feature a panel of technology and wireless experts, including Charles Phillips, president, Oracle Corp., who will act as moderator.
