QUINCY, Pa. - Marjorie J. "Margie" Crawford, 84, of Marshview Drive, and a patient at Colestock Nursing Center, Quincy Village, for the past three months, died Monday, Feb. 2, 2009, at Waynesboro (Pa.) Hospital.

Born April 25, 1924, in Pittsburgh, she was the daughter of the late Earl and Frances Polen.

She earned her bachelor's degree in home economics from Indiana University of Pennsylvania and took classes toward her master's degree at Penn State University.

She was a former home economics teacher, and taught in several Pennsylvania school districts, including New Kensington-Arnold school district, from which she retired in 1978.

She was a member of Quincy United Methodist Church, where she was active in a sewing circle, and had been a member of Hawley Memorial Presbyterian Church, Blue Ridge Summit, Pa.

She was a member of Waynesboro Lioness Club, and volunteered at South Mountain (Pa.) Restoration Center and the Colestock Center, Quincy.

She was a member of Massy Harbison Chapter of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution and Order of Eastern Star 3543, both of New Kensington, Pa.

She is survived by her husband of 42 years, Donald R. Crawford; four children, Ruth Cevario of Lewistown, Md., Kenneth Crawford of Palmyra, Mo., Lois Cunningham of Sayre, Pa., and Lynn Cook of Silver Spring, Md.; one brother, C. Richard Polen of Pittsford, N.Y.; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Services will be private. Pastor Ruth Hollister will officiate. Burial will also be private in Harbaugh Church Cemetery, near Rouzerville, Pa.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 4 to 6 p.m. at Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, Waynesboro.
