HARPERS FERRY, W.Va. - Gerald "Bug" James Pendley Jr., 57, of Harpers Ferry, died Saturday, Jan. 31, 2009, at Inova Fairfax Hospital in Falls Church, Va.

Born Dec. 18, 1951, in Ranson, W.Va., he was the son of Esther Dillow Pendley of Myersville, Md., and the late Gerald J. Pendley Sr.

He was a 1969 graduate of Brunswick (Md.) High School.

He was employed as a truck driver with Southland Concrete Co. in Sterling, Va.

He was a member of Winchester (Va.) Moose Lodge.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by two daughters, Shawnie Quigley and Shelly Mills, both of Harpers Ferry; his girlfriend, Bobbie Gardner of Winchester; one sister, Pam Summers of Myersville; two brothers, Terry Pendley and Charles Pendley, both of Frederick, Md.; and four grandchildren.


Services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Harmony Church of the Brethren, Myersville. The Rev. Tracey L. Wiser will officiate. Burial will be in Harmony Church of the Brethren Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Thursday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Donald B. Thompson Funeral Home, Middletown, Md.
