Piano trio to perform at musem Sunday

The Washington County Museum of Fine Arts will present the West Shore Piano Trio in concert Sunday at 2:30 p.m.

This is the second in a series of Maryland Symphony Orchestra recitals at the museum this concert season.

A reception hosted by members of the museum's volunteer organization, the Singer Society, will follow the performance.

The trio consisting of Jay DeWire, Diana Flesner and Heather Haughn will perform Piano Trio in B flat, D. 898 by Franz Schubert and Trio lgiaque No. 1 in G minor for Piano, Violin and Cello by Sergei Rachmaninoff.

Professor to give talk about
career of artist Winslow Homer

Elizabeth Johns, professor emerita of art history, University of Pennsylvania, will speak Thursday, Feb. 12, at 10 a.m. in the Bowman Gallery at the Washington County Museum of Fine Arts.

The lecture is sponsored by the museum's volunteer association, the Singer Society. The public is invited.


Johns' topic will be "Winslow Homer: Highlights of his Career."

One of America's most beloved artists, Homer is well-known for his realistic oil paintings and watercolors that breathed life into images of the sea, that looked back on frontier America with great nostalgia, and that reported on the soldiers of the Civil War.
