Fire guts mobile home in Morgan County

BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. - Fire gutted a mobile home Sunday night at 1242 Jim West Road in Morgan County, said a Hancock Volunteer Fire Co. spokesman.

Two people in the mobile home off Pious Ridge Road saw flames going up a wall in the kitchen and were able to escape, Capt. Danny Shirley said.

About half of the home was engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived, Shirley said.

It is unclear what caused the fire, which was reported at 7:52 p.m., Stanley said.

Names of the homeowners were not available.

Hagerstown police looking for suspect in strong-arm robbery

Hagerstown City Police were looking Sunday night for a man following a strong-arm robbery of a woman outside Hair Port 3, 1201 Dual Highway.

The purse snatching took place shortly before 7 p.m. Friday. The man ran to a red Jeep Cherokee, which was driven south on Colonial Drive, police said. The man was described as black, about 6 feet tall with a thin build, and was wearing a baseball cap and plaid jacket, police said.


Police said Sunday night there had been no arrests and they were still investigating the case.
