o Air Force Airman Daniel S. Bock, son of Letitia and stepson of Barry Shirey of Thurmont, Md., graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio.

Bock earned distinction as an honor graduate.

Bock is a 2007 graduate of Catoctin High School, Thurmont, Md.

o Army Pvt. Ricky A. Bassford graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C.

Bassford is a 2005 graduate of North Hagerstown High School.

o Army Pvt. Kenneth C. Kelly, son of Susan Blair of San Mar Road, Hagerstown, graduated from basic infantry training at Fort Benning, Columbus, Ga.

Kelly is a 2004 graduate of North Hagerstown High School.

o Army Pfc. Jeffrey H. Remsburg II, son of Jeffrey Remsburg of Hagerstown, graduated from One Station Unit Training (OSUT) at the U.S. Army Infantry School, Fort Benning, Columbus, Ga. The training consisted of basic military training and advanced individual training (AIT).


Remsburg graduated in 2008 from Smithsburg High School.

o Army Sgt. Kevin R. Cyrus, son of Howard Cyrus, and Sheryl Cyrus, of Frederick, Md., returned to the 17th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion, Fort Richardson, Anchorage, Alaska, after being deployed to an overseas forward operating base in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Cyrus is a generator shop supervisor with six years of military service.

His wife, Erin, is the daughter of Ralph Cortese, and Kim Engle, both of Tucson, Ariz.

Cyrus graduated in 2001 from Sahuaro High School, Tucson.

o Army Pfc. Kyle A. Flanagan, son of Patricia Flanagan of Mount Airy, Md., and brother of Mark Zimmerman of Glenwood, Md., graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C.

Flanagan is a 2008 graduate of Atholton High School, Columbia, Md.

o Navy Seaman Apprentice Matthew C. McQuade, son of Christine A. McQuade of McConnellsburg, Pa., recently completed U.S. Navy basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill.

McQuade is a 2004 graduate of Central Fulton High School in McConnellsburg, Pa.
