Preps Area Roundup -- Goretti remains winless in BCL

Towson Catholic jumped to an 11-0 lead and never looked back, posting a 74-44 victory over St. Maria Goretti on Sunday.

The loss kept Goretti (6-20, 0-12) winless in the Baltimore Catholic League. Nic Martin had 17 points and seven assists for the Gaels, who committed 17 turnovers and allowed Towson Catholic 18 offensive rebounds.

Devin Spencer led Towson Catholic (11-8, 5-5) with 18 points.

Shippensburg 56, No. 4 Chambersburg 55

SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. -- Kyle Plasterer scored 19 points, including the game-winning 3-pointer at the buzzer to lift Shippensburg (11-8) over Chambersburg on Saturday night.

Ryan Borzager gave the Trojans a 55-53 lead, hitting a layup and making the subsequent free throw after being fouled with 12.8 seconds left. Borzager finished with 17 points while teammate Orlando McBeth scored 19 for Chambersburg (10-8), which ended the first quarter up 15-6 but gave up 11 straight to start the second period.

MILLBROOK, Va. -- Jefferson's Dezi Clinton had 21 points but the Cougars (9-4) lost to one of Virginia's top girls teams Saturday.

Katie Mangold had 11 points for Jefferson and Dakeea Marshall had eight rebounds and eight points.

Millbrook is now 18-1.

No. 3 Indians win Smash

PETERSBURG, W.Va. -- Berkeley Springs went 9-0 at the Viking Smash to win the team title.

Derek Hovermale (125 pounds), Brad Reed (130), Damen Capper (140) and Tory Bennett (160) won their weight classes for the Indians (19-3), while Loguen McKee (112) placed second and Cohen Hovermale (103), Richard Marshall (135) and Zac Risinger (145) each placed third.
