SALBILLASVILLE, Md. -- Albert R. "Dick" Brown, 80, of Sabillasville Road, died Thursday, Jan. 29, 2009, at his home.

Born Aug. 11, 1928, in Highfield, he was the son of the late John A. and Amanda Pryor Brown.

He was a self-employed excavator.

He attended St. John's United Church of Christ in Sabillasville.

He was a member of Blue Ridge Sportsman's Association.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Vada P. Gladhill Brown, whom he married Feb. 8, 1947; two daughters, Sandra L. Leisner of Daytona Beach, Fla., and Pamela K. Cauthen of Blue Ridge Summit, Pa.; one sister, Helen Snyder of Thurmont, Md.; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Anna M. Laia; and one brother, Glen Brown.

A memorial service will be Saturday, Feb. 7, at 11 a.m. at St. John's United Church of Christ. Pastor Janet Comings will officiate. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the Parrish Hall.
