January 30, 2009

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. -- Police agencies from Franklin County assisted the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration in executing several search warrants Friday morning, the result of a three-month investigation into crack cocaine trafficking.

The Chambersburg Police Department Special Emergency Team (SET) executed the DEA warrant at an apartment at 474 Lincoln Way East, according to a department news release. The joint investigation was conducted by the DEA, the department's Crime Impact Team, the Franklin County Drug Task Force and the Pennsylvania State Police, police said.

As a result of the investigation, search warrants were served at four other places in Franklin County, police said. SET and the state police Special Emergency Response Team conducted the searches, assisted by officers from the Waynesboro and Washington Township police departments and the Franklin County Sheriff's Department, Chambersburg police said.

A spokeswoman for the U.S. Department of Justice office in Harrisburg, Pa., was not available Friday to comment on the raids or any arrests that resulted from the searches.
