BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. - Gilbert LeRoy Beck, 72, of Berkeley Springs, died Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2009, at his home.

Born May 31, 1936, in New Britain, Pa., he was the son of the late Benjamin Beck and Myrtle Irene Fellman Beck Ney.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Rose Elizabeth Gray Beck, in 1999.

He attended Doylestown (Pa.) High School.

Prior to his retirement in 1991, he worked as a bricklayer and carpenter with Ed Happ Contractors in Doylestown and Benjamin Beck Contractors in New Britain, Pa., among others.

He was a member of St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Berkeley Springs.

He was a member of AARP and Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 1483 of Berkeley Springs.

He is survived by four daughters, Sharon J. Schneider of Milford, N.J., Janice Beck of Quakertown, Pa., Lisa B. Ubel of Upper Black Eddy, Pa., and Brenda L. Wagner of Fountainville, Pa.; one stepdaughter, Carol A. Miles of Florida; two brothers, Dennis Beck of Quakertown and Richard Beck of Dublin, Pa.; seven grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; nieces; and nephews.


He was preceded in death by two brothers, Kenneth Beck and Wayne Beck.

Services will be Sunday at 1:30 p.m. at St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Berkeley Springs. The Rev. Patrick A. Pierce will officiate.

Burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Mark's Episcopal Church, 180 S. Washington St., Berkeley Springs, WV 25411.

Arrangements are by Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home in Berkeley Springs.
