Mary McCain Wilcox Fisher

SARASOTA, Fla. - Mary McCain Wilcox Fisher of Sarasota and formerly of West Arlington, Vt., and Philadelphia, Pa., died Dec. 5, 2008, following a brief illness.

She was born Dec. 10, 1916, the daughter of Stanley and Mary Wilcox (nee McCain).

She was the wife of Charles W. Fisher, editor of the Hagerstown Town & Country Almanack for 27 years, who died in 2002.

Survivors include three daughters, Linda Eveland, Mary Vigna and Lisa Brown; two sons, Charles W. Fisher Jr. and Anthony Fisher; 12 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Mary was a founding partner in the new Gruber Almanack LLC after the original 209-year-old Gruber Almanack Co. was reorganized in 2005. Her son, Charles, who has been editing The Almanack since 2001, will replace her as partner in the LLC.
