A 27-year-old Hagerstown man has been charged with attempted first-degree murder, first-degree assault, armed robbery, handgun in vehicle and other charges after a man was found shot in the chest in Smithsburg early Tuesday, according to a Washington County Sheriff's Department news release.
Louis Geraldo Gonzalez was charged after Hagerstown Police Department detectives found him at a home in Noland Village, the release said.
The incident began when a woman called the sheriff's department at about 1:45 a.m. Tuesday and said a man was banging on the door of a home on Federal Lookout Road in Smithsburg claiming he had been shot, the release said.
Deputies responded and found Bruce Allen Jones, 30, of Hagerstown, suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest, the release said.
