BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. - Helen Irene Evanoff, 90, of Berkeley Springs, died Monday, Jan. 26, 2009, at Berkeley Springs Rehab and Nursing.

Born March 1, 1918, in Mount Carmel, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Andrew and Mary Yarosz Stetz.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George Paul Evanoff.

She was a graduate of Mount Carmel High School

She had worked as a secretary for Philco Ford.

She was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Berkeley Springs.

She is survived by one niece, Jeanette I. Buday of Berkeley Springs; and one nephew, Peter Bartos of Lewisburg, W.Va.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Bernice Bartosiewicz and Anna Hosgood; and one brother, Joseph Stec.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Friday at 10 a.m. at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, Berkeley Springs. The Rev. Leonard A. Smith will be celebrant. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Mount Carmel.


The family will receive friends Friday from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. at Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home, Berkeley Springs.
