Greetings, neighbors!

I missed you all last week. We were on a college tour in New England, and picked the snowiest, coldest weekend to go. Better to know what the weather is at its worst.

Seminar targets cleaning without use of toxins

Today at 6 p.m., in the Boonsboro Free Library Community Room, Janeen Solberg, a Boonsboro resident and the Recycling Task Force chairperson, will share simple techniques for cleaning your home without toxins.

Participants will receive recipes for everyday household products that are inexpensive and easy to make at home. Labels for your new nontoxic cleaners and homemade laundry powder samples will be available. For more information, call 301-432-5723.

Oyster dinner

Benevola United Methodist Church will serve fried oysters, ham, turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing and more at a dinner Saturday, Feb. 7, from noon to 6 p.m. Tickets cost $14 for adults and $6 for children. The church is on Benevola Church Road, four miles south of Funkstown off Alternate U.S. 40.
