A month to tolerate

Oh, the weather outside is frightful. Indeed, but hopefully you all are warm and cozy with coffee in hand, as I know I am.

January tends to be one of those months we tolerate, some of us better than others.

Thank goodness February is short and one month closer to my lilacs blooming.

Let's see what we can find out about what's happening and make this a productive month.

Prom show set at South High

With the coming of spring, so follows the pretty flowers, and yes, prom season.

This Saturday there will be a prom fashion show at South Hagerstown High School at 3 p.m.

Want to brighten the spirits of that teenage girl in your house, just mention prom and the oh-so expensive accouterments that go with it.

Save yourself the multitude of trips to the mall and get started right in your own backyard at South High.

Animal clinic plans dental seminar for pets

Did you make your dentist's appointment yet for teeth cleaning?

Hmmm, perhaps I need to clarify. It's not for you but for Fido or Rocky or in our case, Gaston and Rebel.

The Animal Health Clinic of Funkstown will hold a seminar on "How to Care for My Pet's Teeth" Wednesday, Feb. 18, at 6:30 p.m.

Please visit the clinic's Web site at for information on how to register.

While you are there, check out the list of items needed for donation for the men, women and canines serving in the military.

Anyone for bingo?

Feeling a bit bored? Need something to do? Why not head down to the Funkstown Volunteer Fire Co. on Thursdays for some bingo? Doors open at 5 p.m. and the first game starts at 7 p.m.
