CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. - Louise Heskett Ware Ramey, 84, of Walnut Hill, died Saturday, Jan. 24, 2009, at Jefferson Memorial Hospital in Ranson, W.Va.

Born Oct. 23, 1924, in Kabletown, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late James Edgar Ware Sr. and Anna Mazie Heskett Ware.

She attended Kabletown School and graduated in 1942 from Charles Town High School. She attended Shepherd College.

She and her husband owned and operated Walnut Hill Orchards, and the Fruit and Veggie Wagon.

She was a member of Zion Episcopal Church.

She was a member of West Virginia and Virginia State Horticultural Society, Shenandoah Garden Club and Jefferson County Historical Society.

She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Turner A. Ramey; two daughters, Anita Hill of Middleway, W.Va., and Deborah R. Lowman of Martinsburg, W.Va.; one son, Turner A. Ramey III of Charles Town; two brothers, Burwell S. Ware of Kabletown and James E. Ware Jr. of Pennsylvania; one grandson; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by one grandson.

Services will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Zion Episcopal Church, Charles Town. The Revs. Melanie McCarley and John Alfriend will officiate. Burial will be in Edge Hill Cemetery, Charles Town.

Visitation will be today from 4 to 7 p.m. at Melvin T. Strider Colonial Funeral Home, Charles Town.
