Czeslawa "Tessie" Yelinek, 91, of 13125 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown, and formerly of Poland, died Friday, Jan. 23, 2009, at Waynesboro (Pa.) Hospital.

Born Feb. 1, 1917, in Chicago, she was the daughter of the late Antoni and Helena Szmajdzinska Jedynak.

Her husband, Joseph Yelinek, died in September 1981. They were married April 23, 1939.

She received her education in Poland.

She was employed by Washington County Board of Education, working in school cafeterias for more than 20 years without missing a day of work.

She was a member of St. Ann Catholic Church, Hagerstown.

She is survived by one son, Edward J. Yelinek of Waynesboro; and two granddaughters, Kathryn E. Yelinek of Bloomsburg, Pa., and Kristina D. Yelinek, Debica, Poland.


She was preceded in death by one brother, Zygmunt Jedynak.

Services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, Waynesboro. The Rev. Joseph Carolin will officiate. Committal of ashes will follow at Rest Haven Cemetery, Hagerstown.

The family will receive friends Thursday one hour prior to the services at the funeral home.
